MY FIRST POST OF NEWCASTLE!!

I have officially been here for one week and two days and its been fantastic!!! here is a quick up date on what has been going on in mah life!!

Momma, and Big Dog Daddy dropped me off at the airport, in which I meet the rest of my group and colored in my coloring book =) Naturally I made everyone take a group picture before we boarded the plan. From now on, I am the official picture organizer hahah. We flew from Newark to London on a red eye, and apparently British Airlines offers free drinks so we all had a drink to celebrate our new adventure!!

We arrived in Newcastle after a very bumpy flight around 1 oclock. there we went into our rooms and then went shopping for food and necessities. We bought our european phones as well. Then we went to an Italian restaurant for dinner, kinda funny that we would go there instead of an English place. I unpacked for the rest of the night, (trying to be neat we will see what happens, since I have a track record for being messy).

The next day we meet for breakfast and took our student id pictures. The rest of the afternoon was ours to explore and shop more. We then went to "the coast" to visit a friary by the water and to eat fish and chips. It was amazing!! Best fish and chips ever, and the coast was gorgeous. After getting very lost on our way to the other side of campus, we went out on the town for the first time!!  We went to a place called Sinners, and for all you Loyola people it is the English version of Reefers! We had a GREAT time.

In the morning, we left for London and stopped half way at the Chatsworth house, which is home to the Duke and Duchess of something. It was gorgeous with amazing gardens! The house was HUGE with so much fancy stuff.

We finally got to London by 6 and were on our own for dinner. We found a random pub called Brogan's and I got Irish stew and tried someone's bangers and mash. It was actually pretty good! Our waiter was real nice and we learned how to play "sheep".

The next day we went on a red bus tour and went to St Pauls, The tower and went on a river cruise as well. Seeing the tower made me really happy!!!!! I LOVE the time period of the 1500s and 1600s even the 1700s in England. since I know most of the history that occurred there, so I became almost like a tour guide for that part. I got the see the lawn the Anne Bolyen, Katherine Howard and Jane Grey was executed on. They were buried under the alter of the chapel! I am a huge nerd hahah We had a interesting night, getting lost on the under and over ground train, we found this really hopping club and even though it was a hot mess, i had a good time =)

The next morning we had a tour of parliament, which honestly puts our white house to shame with the amount of beautiful decorations and architecture (I sound like liz!) and also the history and tradition that is used within the voting process and such. I loved it though most people thought it was a waste of time. We tour Westminter Abby, which has numerous royals and famous people there. When then went to Kensington Palace, aka the Princesses palace to see the Diana memorial and Kate's dress, which wont be there til next week. That night we went out to Tiger, Tiger: a four floor club with new music on each floor. It was fun, but extremely crowded so I was very overwhelmed.

Sunday, we headed back to Newcastle, stopping at Stratford upon Avon t see the home of Shakespeare. It was pretty, thats basically it ahah

Now it is International Week and we are going to a bunch of talks and orientations. We did a scavenger hunt (Katherine, Taylor and I were a team) I literally made them run around the city because I am so competitive ahahha But we got second place =( still got some good laughs out of it and now we know the city really well

Now I am all regirstered for classes, even though they dont begin til the 3rd. I am a little nervous about class, and I hope I can keep up with the work. Right now its just me and Katherine in our flat, our british roommates move in this weekend!!!

So far I LOVE IT HERE!!!!!!! keep posted for more details. my address and email are in my blog profile so pleaseeeeeeeee keep in touch!

love, Erin
